EuroLite windows and doors are certified for High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ), including all coastal regions where hurricanes typically make landfall.

This certification requires testing to ASTM E1886/E1996 or TAS 201/203 protocols. Test samples are subjected to impacts by large and small missiles to simulate windborne debris as well as the cyclic pressure differentials which occur during a hurricane. For example, specimen is hit in several places by a 9lb, 2” x 4” wooden beam, shot out of a cannon at 34 mph. The specimens is impacted in different places to prove it will not be penetrated by such windborne debris. The specimen is then subjected to rapid pressure cycling, 4500 times with positive pressure, and then 4500 times with negative pressure. After testing, the specimen is checked to ensure there is no tear or opening through which a 3” in diameter sphere could pass.
